Transloading is the process of moving freight between modes, typically between an ocean container and a full truckload trailer. For imports, the container moves from the port to a local warehouse, where the cargo is unloaded and transferred into FTL trailers for inland delivery. For exports, domestic truckloads move into the warehouse so the cargo can be prepared, consolidated and loaded into an export container. Freight Flex coordinates the whole sequence as one plan.

For imports, Freight Flex coordinates drayage from the port to a local warehouse, unloading and palletizing when needed, and FTL delivery to the final destination. Run the numbers on the box versus the trailer

The comparison is straightforward when you lay it out. On one side sits the cost of dragging the container inland, including the long dray, chassis days, per diem risk and a single-destination delivery. On the other side sits the transload, including a short dray, warehouse handling, palletizing if needed and domestic FTL rates to each destination. Multi-stop freight, long inland legs and floor-loaded cargo usually favor the transload, while a single heavy delivery close to the port often favors a straight dray.
